heritage

I have a great heritage. Lots of people who have loved me and supported me over the years. @ has an even better heritage really because it combines Jonathan's and mine and that means a whole lot of good folks lovin' on him.

Today we celebrated the 50th anniversary of one of my home church's growing up. 50 years of people coming together working to serve their community and God. Now that's great. So the service was lovely. Lots of reminiscing about our pastors and the growth and the changes in people. The pastor I grew up with would flow into "Dwelling in Beulah Land" at the drop of a hat. It happened so often that the pianist learned to pick up the signals that it was coming on. In the middle of a sermon we could be singing Beulah Land if the Spirit moved. Didn't happen often in the middle, normally beginnings and end. We'd also sing the old Gaither song "Family of God" for each baptism. I still do when people get baptized but now its more of a quiet solo because no one else knows that that is what you are supposed to do.

Today is also @'s birthday. Big time 2 year old boy. And there was a great big party at our new church.

To add to fun anniversary news. The church we were living with in Indiana is celebrating 20 years this weekend also. So here's a shout out to PC3 and their work. We're so privileged to get to know so many wonderful folks so many different places.
