happy christmas

I woke up at 3:30a.m to go to the town wide christmas service. It was really wonderful and I'm glad I went. We suspect its the only one of its kind in the entire country owing to the peculair demographics of this city. Normally it is held at the town field but because that is under construction (their widening the sidewalks), the event was moved to the stadium. Still very nice.

Got home and @ seemed to know that it was Christmas day, we hadn't told him until yesterday so that he wouldn't drive us crazy with "Now we open presents?" for weeks on end. So I made coffee, put the cinnamon rolls in the oven and we were ready to begin the advent portion of the celebration. We read a story and sang "Joy to the World" and talk about our nativity set. He did remember about the significance so that was encouraging. Then we moved into the living room and let the work of presents begin. Not so bad really. Only problem, and I don't know that its really a problem, is that he wanted to stop and play with everything instead of opening the next present. Not a bad way to do christmas with one kid really except the trash stays in your house longer and with @ you may never finish the opening. But after everything was open, boy, he has had a good time. Playing with them all together is a lot of fun.

So now I'm on my afternoon coffee pot, decaf starbucks, mmmm delicious. Eating a few cookies from yesterdays labors. Delicious lunch of Zigni, Alecha and Soda Gembira (Jonathan's present, which he savored in such a gratifying way).

Happy christmas!
